Siena for the 2025 Jubilee

Siena, crossroads of faith and culture: the events of the Jubilee 2025 presented

Siena is preparing to welcome the Jubilee 2025 with a calendar of initiatives that will accompany citizens, visitors and pilgrims along a path of faith, culture and tradition. The events of the Jubilee year were presented in today's press conference, Monday 31 March, by the Mayor of Siena, Nicoletta Fabio, and the Councilor for Tourism, Vanna Giunti. The common thread of the celebrations will be the Golden Rose, the precious gift that Pope Pius II gave to the city in 1459, a symbol of a deep bond between Siena and the Papacy.

Through exhibitions, meetings, guided tours and spiritual walks, the Municipality of Siena, in collaboration with the Archdiocese, the city museums, cultural institutions and local associations, offers a unique opportunity to rediscover the city and its Jubilee history. The heart of the celebrations will be the new installation dedicated to the Golden Rose at the Civic Museum, which will be presented on May 22, 2025. The initiative, in addition to valorizing the gift of Pius II, will explore the theme of the gift in history and art, underlining the role of Siena as a crossroads of pilgrimages and spirituality.

This will be accompanied by other exhibitions, such as the exhibition of jewelry inspired by the Golden Rose, created by the students of the Master del Gioiello of Arezzo, which can be visited in the Sala dei Pilastri of the Civic Museum between October and December. The events will open on April 4 with the inauguration of the exhibition "Attraversando il Giubileo" at the Conservatori Riuniti of Siena and will continue with thematic guided tours on the Jubilee history of the city.

Among the most anticipated initiatives, the pilgrimage between Siena and Monteriggioni along the Via Francigena scheduled for Saturday April 12, an immersive experience between faith and history, and the urban trekking on October 31 that will retrace centuries of Sienese spirituality. The program will also be enriched with a series of meetings on the figure of Pius II and the symbolic value of the Rose, insights into the tradition of papal gifts and visits dedicated to the links between the Sienese popes Piccolomini and Chigi.
